Who We Are

Jasper County Take Away Hunger is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit corporation dedicated to the goal of reducing hunger and feeding starving people throughout the world. Our approach to achieving this goal is the packaging of highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified meals by volunteers at locations around Jasper County, and the distribution of those meals to food insecure and starving children and their families both here in the United States and in many other countries through partnerships with humanitarian organizations worldwide.

We have helped volunteers from Jasper County package over 680,000 meals at local events.

In recent years, we have focused on fighting hunger within the United States, sending meals to Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Florida and to several food banks in Iowa towns including Ottumwa, Fairfield, Iowa City, Colfax, Baxter and Newton. In the summer of 2018, when the cities of Marshalltown and Pella were hit by tornadoes, Take Away Hunger responded by supplying 7,000 meals to local emergency shelters.

We have also fought hunger internationally. Meals packaged at our events have been sent to countries such as Burkina Faso, Zambia, Sudan, Liberia, Albania, Romania, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, the Philippines and Haiti.

Jasper County Take Away Hunger is governed by a board of local volunteers. Our organization is a wing unit of Take Away Hunger, based in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
